A brand that follows my values

A brand that follows my values

For many businesses, defining a brand identity comes as an afterthought. Entrepreneurs come up with a genius product or service, and the ethos of the business is secondary. But that wasn’t the case for me.

I always knew I’d develop something to help save the world. Sustainability has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and I was always on the hunt for alternatives to single-use plastics (often to the bewilderment and frustration of everyone around me). Why couldn’t I just suck it up and buy something cheap and accessible, even if I knew it would end up in a landfill?

I just couldn’t live with myself, knowing that the choices I was making could eventually mean greater problems down the road for my son and future generations. I wanted better for myself, my family, and those around me.
So there I was, a shopper fixated on finding alternatives, who also, for the record, happens to have thick, curly hair. Along with a passion for sustainability, I was focused on haircare, since my mane requires a great deal of TLC (and by that, I mean lengthy styling treatments and arduous blowouts).

Shower caps had become essential, as I needed blowouts to last as long as possible. But once again, my quest for an alternative to single-use shower caps was leading me down an endless rabbit hole.

And that’s when I had my lightbulb moment!

I could create a sustainable shower cap, made from recycled materials. Better yet, I could develop a design that was far superior to the cheap options we’d all grown accustomed to.

I learned that 7.3 billion disposable shower caps are sold in the U.S. each year. If my product could even slightly reduce that number, I could make a meaningful difference. From there (along with many months of intensive research and development, sacrifices only entrepreneurs can relate to, and a drive to create something I truly believed in), the TIARA Shower Cap was born.

Made using recycled, waterproof, machine washable plastic fabrics, that are durable enough to last for years, the shower cap is not only sustainable, it’s the most efficient product on the market. It keeps hair dry and frizz-free, and can even be flipped inside out to be used as an insulator for hair masks.

My product may be genius (in my humble opinion) but it was born out of a deep desire to create good in the world, help others, and leave the planet in better shape than I found it.

Our shoppers share that vision, and we’re committed to expanding the TIARA collection to make even more sustainable options for our community of environmentally conscious, haircare enthusiasts. Keep an eye out for future launches!
